Pavillion D'Armide: From the outside looking in - Feb 19th, 2017
Pavillon D’Armide
During intermission I had quite a long talk with someone that is supposed to understand a lot about ballet – and also write about it! Exciting to be able to exchange thoughts…
I was quite amazed when this certain person said that she did not understand why the doctor’s costumes (Roman Lazik) were so similar to Nijinsky’s… Quite spontaneously and very matter of fact I answered: “Oh but that is not the doctor… Roman Lazik plays a double role… he’s Diaghilev visiting Nijinsky… I think it quite good symbolically and… “. I stopped… the air had turned into ice… what an awkward moment…
But, let us be honest, if people that write about ballet don’t understand it – what can you expect of an audience?
