Tamara Rojo presents the 2023/24 Season of the San Francisco Ballet...
Professionality, creativity, capacity to dare, courage…
…and this in a country in which Ballet companies are NOT supported by the State (as here in Austria, for example!), having to depend on contributions and donations. Chapeau, Tamara, Chapeau!
One thing is very true: “Emergency always produces creativity” - Think of Cuba and its old-timers still driving around!
And I realize that while watching this video! “State Companies” with old-fashioned theatres and directors, companies falling literally and provincially appart…
Companies need a director who is more preoccupied with the work and development of the company than by his/hers own “choreographies” and “egos”, with at least a (capable) direction assistant that watches every single performance from the audience’s angle , and with talks with the dancers after every single performance, with constructive ideas/suggestions/Knowledge…
Yes, I repeat that: Knowledge. Essential.
It is not nice to see a Company falling apart.
Perhaps it is time to “rethink” things and not only live in the good old (but gone) days? I ask you that! No “State support” anymore (like nearly every else in the world) and, perhaps, a bit more work and a bit more of an ambitious position instead of just waiting for the Austrian State to pay the bills - and the future pension - before leaving to return to one’s country.
Just watch this new video and tell me what you think of Tamara Rojo’s positive, professional a t t i t u d e.
Oh, if just some Central European’s directors could only TRY to understand that…
