Be Welcome.

Here it is all about dance - contemplated from many different angles - and about looking at things differently.

Dancers: Artists or Artistes?

Dancers: Artists or Artistes?

Someone has asked me once why, in connection to dancers, I also use the word "artiste" instead of "artist". Well, just for the record:

Artist definition:

A person whose creative work shows sensitivity and imagination

Artiste definition:

A public performer (a dancer or singer)

To make a long Story short: I tend to think that Dancers are Artists who are Artistes…

(To the picture: A part of the works by Edgar Degas (1834–1917) from MASP’s (Sao Paulo/Brazil) collection, which was last exhibited 15 years ago. The artist’s works were acquired in the 1950s, in the context of the exceptional acquisitions promoted by Pietro Maria Bardi (1900–1999), the museum’s founding director, whose focus was on European art)
